Greetings from the edge,
I’ve been working away in the broom cupboard like a highly
caffeinated, nicotine-fuelled Wizard of Oz, and the numbers are slowly starting
to creep upward.
I’m still working my backside off on the SEO side of things.
It remains highly tedious, but I think it’ll be worth it in the long run. I’m
almost finished with Recovered Tapes You Shouldn’t Watch Alone, and
today I also started taking the red pen of doom to the manuscript for The
Bone Garden.
At some point this week, I need to spring-clean both the
geek cave and the broom cupboard. I’m fully expecting to uncover bits of Lego
from long-abandoned models and perhaps a small mountain range of empty vape
juice bottles.
I’ve also been trying to get some artwork together for the
site, but to be brutally honest, I failed remedial finger painting in first
grade and haven’t improved much since. So it may be a while before I have
anything worth showing.
That said, I did have an idea for a web comic. The basic
concept is Star Wars, but retold as though it were a TTRPG campaign. The
images would be stills from the films, and the jokes would come from framing it
like a tabletop game gone slightly wrong. I’m not sure whether to start with A
New Hope or The Phantom Menace, but I’ll probably experiment with a
few and see if anything sticks.
I have very fond memories of web comics from the early 2000s
through to around 2020, and while they seem a little quieter now, I think
there’s still room for something fun.
I’m also looking into the social media side of things. I’m
still a bit unsure about putting myself on camera, mainly because I have a face
for radio and a voice for prose, but we’ll see.
